Matt Maasdam
Matt Maasdam’s life has been defined by service to his country and his community. Forged by his service as a Navy SEAL, he deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and the Pacific, leading missions in some of the world’s most dangerous environments and later serving as the lead instructor for SEAL training’s “Hell Week,” instilling teamwork, integrity, and courage in the next generation of SEALs. His leadership was recognized when he was chosen as President Barack Obama’s Military Aide, responsible for planning emergency responses and carrying the nuclear football. After leaving active duty, Matt brought the same mission-driven mindset to business, helping lead operations at Under Armour and founding two e-commerce companies. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Matt now lives in mid-Michigan with his wife Laura, a fellow Navy veteran, and their two boys. He is running for Congress to continue his service by fighting for Michigan families with hard work, courage, and integrity.
