Rep. John Richard Christopher King proudly serves the people of South Carolina House District 49, representing communities throughout York County. First elected in 2008 and serving since 2009, he is a dedicated public servant, funeral director, and community leader. A native of Chester, South Carolina, Representative King is a graduate of Morehouse College, Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, and Strayer University, where he earned a master's degree in Educational Management. As owner and funeral director of Chris King Memorial Chapel, he has spent his career serving families with compassion while also fighting in the South Carolina House of Representatives for quality public education, affordable healthcare, economic development, improved infrastructure, and equal opportunity for all. His leadership has helped secure millions of dollars in state investments for District 49, and he remains committed to building stronger communities and improving the quality of life for every South Carolinian.
