Rep. Johnson grew up in the Midwest, where her family instilled in her the values of hard work and giving back to their community.She believes deeply in building a future where young people are rewarded for their hard work and have the chance to achieve theirdreams — just as she has in Connecticut. Rep. Johnson serves as Deputy Majority Leader and Co-Chair of the Screening Committee ofthe CT House of Representatives. Outside of public office, Rep. Johnson has worked as a nonprofit consultant, college professor, andis a published researcher. They hold a PhD in Urban Education Policy from Temple University, an MA in Communication from Stanford University, and a BA in Communication Studies from Bryn Mawr College.
