Jamie Collins
Jamie Collins is a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, climate scientist, and disaster responder running for County Commission in Deschutes County, Oregon — the state's fastest-growing and wealthiest county. Service has defined his life: he is a Captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve with 22 years in uniform (active duty 2004–2009, Reserve 2009–present), and he has responded to more than 350 environmental emergencies from Central Oregon to the North Slope of Alaska. He holds a Ph.D. in chemical oceanography from MIT and is certified as a Type 1 Incident Commander — the highest-level emergency management qualification in the country, reserved for the leaders trusted to take command of the largest and most complex disasters. Jamie is bringing solutions-focused, service-over-party leadership to local government, tackling water, housing, and wildfire resilience for the working families of Central Oregon. He lives in Deschutes County with his wife, Meredith, and their son, Jack.
