A first-generation American raised in Las Cruces, Vanessa Ordonez is a U.S. Navy combat veteran with more than two decades of combined military and law enforcement experience. She most recently served as Chief of Police in Anthony, New Mexico, which was recognized as the Safest City to Live in New Mexico in 2025. She holds a master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration, and her campaign emphasizes public safety, accountable leadership, civil rights, and building stronger trust between law enforcement and the community.
