Ryan Peterman is a proud Iowan from the Quad Cities. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and went on to become a Navy helicopter pilot. He later served as a defense fellow in the U.S. Senate, working on defense and national security policy. He wrapped up his time in the Navy by serving as the Honor Education and Remediation Officer back at the Naval Academy, where he mentored midshipmen about the importance of honor and integrity. He's returned home to Iowa to bring that style of leadership — built on honor and integrity — to the Secretary of State's office. As Secretary of State, he will protect the right to vote for every eligible Iowan, provide improved services to enhance small business growth in Iowa, and bring a much-needed new generation of leadership to Iowa.
