With her victory in a newly drawn, Republican-leaning seat, Dandiya becomes the first South Asian American to represent Florida in Congress.
WASHINGTON D.C. (November 3, 2026) — Pia Dandiya has won Florida's 22nd Congressional District, the first New Politics victory in the Sunshine State tonight. A Palm Beach County native, Dandiya began her career as an AmeriCorps Teach For America corps member before becoming a high school principal at 28.
Dandiya, a member of the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, won a newly drawn district Donald Trump carried by 11 points in 2024.
Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:
“Pia Dandiya started out teaching in a classroom, and she has never stopped believing that service should deliver real results for people. Tonight, voters in Florida’s 22nd District chose her to bring that same focus to Congress, where families squeezed by the cost of living need someone who will fight for them. New Politics is proud to have backed Pia in this campaign and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in Washington.”
