WASHINGTON D.C. (August 17, 2026) — New Politics today endorsed Mitchell Berman for U.S. Congress in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District. Berman is an emergency room nurse who spent over a decade caring for veterans, active duty servicemembers, and their families at the VA.

Following Berman’s primary victory last week, his campaign released general election polling showing a dead heat in the race for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, with Berman trailing incumbent Republican Bryan Steil by only one point.
Mitchell Berman was raised in a one-stoplight town in rural Wisconsin. His father built a small roofing business from the ground up and his mother worked long hours grinding pistons at the local foundry. Mitchell was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning his degree while working three jobs, living paycheck to paycheck, and taking out student loans. With more than 23 years of experience in healthcare, Mitchell is a registered nurse and spent over a decade serving veterans, active duty servicemembers, and their families at the VA.
