NEW POLITICS ENDORSES ELAINE LURIA FOR CONGRESS IN VIRGINIA'S 2nd CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

WASHINGTON D.C. (December 4, 2025) — New Politics today endorsed Elaine Luria for Congress in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District. Luria, a 20-year Navy veteran who served as a nuclear-trained Surface Warfare Officer and former member of Congress, exemplifies the service-driven leadership that New Politics champions.

Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:

"Elaine Luria has dedicated her life to service, first spending two decades as a commander in the Navy as one of the first female sailors to spend her entire career on combat ships, and then serving the people of Hampton Roads in Congress with the same commitment to mission over politics. Whether navigating nuclear-powered warships or navigating the halls of Congress, Elaine has proven she puts people before party and gets results. Her courage, integrity, and relentless focus on lowering costs for families is exactly what Coastal Virginians need. New Politics is proud to stand with Elaine as she answers the call to serve once again."

About Elaine Luria

Elaine has served our country and the Commonwealth of Virginia since she was 17 years old, spending 20 years in the Navy as a nuclear engineer and four years as a member of Congress representing Hampton Roads. She knows that service to our country means putting the interests of the people above all else—including political parties. That's why she cannot sit back and watch as Republicans in Congress create chaos while failing to address the rising cost of living and the issues that matter to Coastal Virginians. The hardworking people of Hampton Roads deserve a government that lowers costs, creates opportunities, and works to improve their lives. Virginians are hungry for change, and Elaine looks forward to getting back to work for Hampton Roads to make life more affordable for working families, grow our economy, cut health care costs, and strengthen our military.
