Former Army Captain and paratrooper Jessica Killin wins the CO-05 Democratic primary, setting up a November challenge to Rep. Jeff Crank.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 1, 2026) New Politics endorsed candidate Jessica Killin has won the Democratic nomination for Colorado's 5th Congressional District. Killin was added to the DCCC's Red to Blue program this spring, and has put CO-05 on the map as a pickup opportunity for Democrats in November.

Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:

“Jessica Killin has never backed down from the call to serve. She led soldiers overseas in peacekeeping missions, then came home and spent her career protecting military families. Her commitment to servant leadership is exactly what Congress needs right now. New Politics is honored to have stood with Jessica through this primary, and we're proud to stand behind her as she takes this fight to Jeff Crank this November.”
