NEW POLITICS-ENDORSED CANDIDATE JAMES TALARICO WINS U.S. SENATE PRIMARY IN TEXAS

WASHINGTON D.C. (March 3, 2026) — New Politics, an organization that recruits, develops, and elects leaders across the political spectrum with service backgrounds, today celebrated the victory of endorsed candidate, James Talarico, in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Texas. New Politics was among the first organizations to back Talarico in his 2018 Texas State Representative campaign and has invested heavily in supporting his subsequent races and political career.

Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:

“James Talarico's victory tonight is a testament to the enduring power of servant leadership. New Politics has believed in James since 2018, when few people knew his name and others saw his first race as impossible. From the moment we first backed him, we saw something rare: the ability to connect authentically across differences and to lead with purpose rather than division. Tonight, Texas voters made clear that the servant leadership James has embodied throughout his career — from his AmeriCorps service to the classroom to the Texas State House — is exactly what this moment demands.”

“His victory demonstrates that voters across the country, including in states seen as long shots, are ready to reward candidates who lead with integrity, purpose, and a genuine commitment to the communities they serve. New Politics is committed to building on this momentum to elect the next generation of service-driven leaders and help shape a Congress that works for all Americans. We couldn't be more proud and are firmly behind James in November’s general election.”
