Retired Navy Rear Admiral and former National Security Council official Eileen Laubacher wins the CO-04 Democratic primary, setting up a November challenge to Rep. Lauren Boebert
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 1, 2026) — New Politics endorsed candidate Eileen Laubacher has won the Democratic nomination for Colorado's 4th Congressional District. The retired two-star Navy admiral, who spent 34 years in uniform and went on to serve on the National Security Council, secured the nomination after building one of the strongest campaign operations in the country, raising more than $9 million from tens of thousands of grassroots donors. Laubacher gives Democrats their best shot at flipping this seat in November.
Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:
“Eileen Laubacher built her entire career on putting mission before self. After 34 years serving our country in uniform, Eileen did not need to jump into this race, but she saw what’s at stake for our democracy and decided to answer the call to serve again. Colorado's 4th district deserves a leader who consistently puts service before self, and that's exactly who Eileen has been her whole career. New Politics is proud to stand behind her as she takes this fight to Lauren Boebert this November.”
