The Navy Captain and former NASA Chief of Staff will carry his 23-year record of service into the general election with his sights set on flipping the seat
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 18, 2026) — New Politics endorsed candidate Bale Dalton won the Democratic primary in Florida's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday, advancing to the general election on the strength of a campaign built around his decades in uniform and his service in senior leadership at NASA. Dalton's campaign earned a spot on the DCCC's Red to Blue list earlier this summer, solidifying FL-07 as a key pick-up opportunity for Democrats.
Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:
“Voters in Florida's 7th District looked at Bale Dalton's record and saw someone who has spent his whole life showing up for other people, whether that meant flying combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan or running one of the most complex agencies in the federal government. Bale’s career rooted in servant leadership earned him this win, and New Politics is thrilled to keep standing with him heading into November."
