Endorsement: Jessica Mason for Congress (TX-30)

WASHINGTON D.C.—New Politics today endorsed Navy veteran, community activist, and public servant, Jessica Mason for Representative in Texas’ 30th Congressional District. Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics released the following statement:

“Our country desperately needs leaders like Jessica Mason who know what it means to serve something bigger than themselves. Jessica has spent her career building bridges, taking on big challenges, and putting others first. Whether in uniform or on the front lines fighting on behalf of her community, Jessica has demonstrated her commitment to empowering those around her and to leading with courage and empathy. That’s why we’re thrilled to support her trailblazing campaign to represent Texas’ 30th Congressional District as the first-ever Black woman Veteran to serve in Congress.”

About Jessica Mason
Jessica was born and raised in South Dallas. She attended E.B Comstock Middle School and Skyline Highschool. Growing up in poverty, Jessica struggled to afford a college education, but found a way forward by enlisting in the Navy where she served as a medic. She briefly worked in the Virginia General Assembly while earning her master’s degree before turning her focus to organizing and providing direct support to communities in need. Jessica returned to Dallas at the height of the COVID pandemic to begin working as an affordable housing administrator focused on delivering life-sustaining resources to low-income communities, assisting families and individuals with rent assistance, providing food and nutrition services, and helping navigate healthcare services. Jessica is running for Congress because she believes we shouldn’t be dependent on the kindness of strangers just to survive. TX-30 needs policies designed for the success of working-class people, and it needs leaders who grew up in and survived the struggles of their communities
