WASHINGTON D.C. (July 27, 2026)New Politics endorsed State Representative Tram Nguyen for U.S. Congress in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District. Nguyen's AmeriCorps service set the tone for a career spent standing up for working people. Her servant leadership is exactly what New Politics was built to elect.

Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:

“I've watched Tram fight for people her entire career. As a legal aid attorney, she stood up for survivors of violence, veterans, immigrants, and workers who had nowhere else to turn. Now she's ready to do that in Congress, giving people real reasons to believe that government can improve their lives. It's not enough to send just another Democrat to Congress to try to fix Trump's mess. We need leaders like Tram who are ready to meet this moment head on. New Politics is proud to stand with her.“

About Tram Nguyen

Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just 5 years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam's authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college and, as an attorney with Greater Boston Legal Services, standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, she became a member of UAW Local 2320. In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by 10 points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers' rights, and economic opportunity for all. Now she's running for Congress to fight for everyday people, lower costs, restore our democracy, and ensure we all have the opportunity to not just survive, but thrive.
