Endorsement: Lisa Smith for Arvada, CO, City Council

WASHINGTON D.C. — New Politics today endorsed Air Force veteran and social worker Lisa Smith to represent Arvada’s City Council At-Large. Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics released the following statement:

“We’re so proud to endorse Lisa Smith for Arvada City Council because she’s dedicated both her life and career to serving and empowering her neighbors. Through her work at home and abroad, Lisa has demonstrated she has the courage, integrity, and tenacity necessary to ensure her neighbors in Arvada get all the support and resources they need to thrive. We’re thrilled to endorse this lifelong servant leader and can’t wait to see the impact she has on her community when she gets to City Hall.”

About Lisa Smith
Lisa served in the U.S. Air Force Military Police before hanging up her beret to become a social worker in Colorado. While attending Colorado State University. She became an Intensive Case Manager serving older adults and disabled adults where she helped pilot the first-ever nursing home reintegration program in Colorado. It was then, she realized her true calling was in program development and policy. She completed her Masters Degree at Boston College for Macro Social Work. During that time she built a new veterans program at her university which is still growing and active today. Lisa gained experience in the Boston Mayor's Office testing and scaling pilots around innovative housing and homelessness. She currently works with Team Rubicon, a veteran-based disaster response organization that deploys veterans to natural disasters and humanitarian crises across the world. She has deployed to Greece to help run a medical clinic, deployed to flood zones, fire zones and deployed veterans to international crises such as the Earthquake in Nepal.
