Lisbeth Shepherd founded Green City Force (GCF) in 2009 to address the dual imperatives of youth unemployment and climate change, through service rooted in communities on the front lines of both issues. GCF's award-winning model enlists young adult residents of public housing in service to advance sustainability through large-scale initiatives affecting thousands of fellow residents, with continuous support towards career pathways for graduates. Before GCF Lisbeth co-founded Unis-Cité, the leading service year program in France which engages over 7000 annual Corps Members and inspired the Service Civique, France's national civilian service. She is an Echoing Green alum, Draper Richards Kaplan Fellow, Hearts on Fire Visionary, White House Youth Jobs+ Champion of Change, Yale graduate and mother of two.
