STATE SENATOR NICOLE MITCHELL

Minnesota’s 47th District
Service:
National Guard

Nicole grew up in Woodbury, MN, which is now part of the district where she is running for state senate. She began volunteering in High School, and her commitment to community service has continued ever since. Among other things, this has included helping victims of domestic abuse, volunteering at a homeless shelter, and, most recently, distributing food at a local food bank.

After seeing the impact many of these issues have on children, much of her volunteer service has centered around abused and neglected children. She is a licensed foster care provider who has served 6 different children since 2018. Along with her biological son (age 5), she is mom to another 5 year old she is in the process of adopting and a 1 yearr old....all boys!

Nicole has also served our country and is a decorated military veteran with 30yrs service, including 16yrs flying into storms as a Hurricane Hunter, numerous deployments, and she is currently serving as a Commander in the National Guard.

On the civilian side, Nicole is a meteorologist who has worked in television and radio broadcasting for both local and national networks. This has also given her the opportunity to be involved in and educate on climate and environmental issues. She additionally has a law degree and has experience drafting legislation.

After a lifetime of service, she looks forward to serving her community at the Minnesota Capitol!
