COUNCILOR DREW MITRISIN

Overland Park City Council Ward 2
Service:
AmeriCorps

Drew Mitrisin is a father, infrastructure policy professional, AmeriCorps national service alum and candidate for Overland Park City Council in Ward 2.

Born and raised in Columbia, Missouri by a UPS driver and a school teacher, Drew learned early the value of education and hard work. After attending William Jewell College for political science and twice being named the college's Male Athlete of the Year for performance on the baseball team, Drew served a year of national service through AmeriCorps in a 4th grade math classroom in southeast Washington, DC. His boots-on-the-ground service experience and the AmeriCorps oath to "get things done for America" led Drew to pursue a career in public policy.

Following AmeriCorps, Drew started his transportation policy career at a major trade association where he advocated for sustainability, public safety and small businesses and completed his Masters in Public Management from Johns Hopkins University.

Today, Drew works at Burns & McDonnell on some of the region's largest transportation and water infrastructure projects as a senior policy consultant. Drew lives in Nall Hills with his wife, Angie, who is a teacher at Apache Elementary in the Shawnee Mission School District, and their baby, Reese, and dog, Captain.
