BOARD MEMBER CHRIS MILLER

California's Campbell Union School Board Trustee

Service: Peace Corps & AmeriCorps (TFA Chicago Corps '14)

Chris was born in India and raised in Minnesota, he currently resides in Campbell, CA. He has spent his career as an advocate for public education, community development, and social justice causes. He is currently a full-time elementary school teacher in a low-income school in East San Jose. Chris has spent his career trying to increase educational equity both in the classroom and at the community level. As a board member, Chris will focus his energy on increasing funding for literacy programs for English Language Learners and invest more resources into after-school enrichment programs throughout the district.

Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Chris taught for three years in low-income schools on the South and West sides of Chicago where he saw firsthand the interconnection between urban poverty and education. Before becoming an educator Chris served in the Peace Corps (RPCV 2009-2011) in Guyana where he developed a Spanish Language Training Program for elementary teachers in indigenous villages. Chris believes that by bringing ALL stakeholders together we can build a Silicon Valley that works for everyone.
