Endorsement: Pat Spearman for North Las Vegas Mayor

WASHINGTON D.C.—New Politics today endorsed US Army veteran and public servant Dr. Pat Spearman for Mayor in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics released the following statement:

About Pat Spearman

Dr. Pat Spearman is a cleric, veteran, and public servant from North Las Vegas, Nevada. She was elected in November 2012 to the Nevada Senate representing District One and becoming the first openly lesbian member of the Nevada Legislature. Before being elected senator, Spearman served in the United States Army for 29 years, reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel, was a pastor, and held several public service positions, including president of the school district of San Marcos, Texas. Dr. Spearman holds several accredited degrees; a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science from the Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA; a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from The Seminary of the Southwest; and a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from Walden University. She also serves as the Chair of Active Military and Veterans Affairs subcommittee for the Counsel of State Governments, member of the Energy Resource Task Force, and the Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators Her doctoral study, Using Sustainable Development as a Competitive Strategy, provided her the opportunity to gain professional and academic expertise to facilitate improvements in the rural electric industry.
