Earlier today, we endorsed Marine Corps veteran and lifelong public servant John Lira for Representative in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District. Here’s what Emily had to say about John:

“Whether at home or abroad, John Lira has spent his career on the frontlines of service. He has dedicated his life to giving back to the communities that made him who he is, and as their representative in Washington, John will work tirelessly to empower working families and small businesses throughout the 23rd District. We’re thrilled to endorse this selfless, values-driven leader who will always put the interests of his fellow Texans above partisan politics.”

About John Lira

John is the son of a San Antonio Mexican-American family of four, a Marine Corps veteran, a dedicated father and husband, and a proud Texan. He served in the launch of Operation Iraqi Freedom and volunteered for a second deployment to Iraq a year and a half later. After leaving the service, John used his GI Bill to earn a bachelor's degree from UT San Antonio and master's in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He went on to work at the Small Business Administration and the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service, before returning home to San Antonio. Over the past twenty years, John has journeyed from military bases and foreign battlefields to higher education institutions and through federal agencies building the skills, knowledge, and commitment to public service needed to be an effective and visionary leader fighting for working Texans.
