Blog: New Politics October Updates

Our October has been anything but spooky at New Politics. We endorsed two congressional candidates and four state and local candidates. In Louisiana’s 33rd State Senate District, New Politics servant leader Stewart Cathey won his State Senate election. And, as we near Election Day, we ask you to support our seven servant leaders who have elections coming up!

New Politics servant leader Stewart Cathey won his election in Louisiana’s 33rd District

On October 18th, New Politics candidate Stewart Cathey won his election to the State Senate in Louisiana’s 33rd District. Stewart is a Major in the US Army Reserve and a decorated combat veteran who served multiple tours in Afghanistan. We were proud to endorse Stewart in September, and we are even more excited to see all the positive change he will make in Louisiana’s State Senate.

We endorsed Nikki Foster for Congress in Ohio’s 1st District, and Dan Feehan for Congress in Minnesota’s 1st District

Earlier this month, we endorsed retired Air Force pilot and Air Force Reservist Nikki Foster for Congress. Nikki has dedicated her life to serving the country, and now is deeply engaged in her community through her work at General Electric and with Hire Heroes USA. We’ve been fortunate to spend lots of time on the ground with Nikki in OH-1, and we are excited to see her put country over party in Congress. Last week, we also endorsed Army veteran and Teach for America alum Dan Feehan in his race for Congress. For the entirety of his career, Dan has dedicated himself to public service. We got the chance to see just how amazing Dan is on his 2018 race, and we are proud to endorse him again this cycle. We’re also excited that both Nikki and Dan are alumni of New Politics Leadership Academy’s Answering the Call program, representing the strength of our growing movement for servant leadership in politics.

We endorsed Marco Attisano, Hassan Essa, Chris Potter, and Philip Du

We endorsed four outstanding state and local leaders this month. In Pennsylvania’s 30th district, we endorsed Navy Veteran and Americorps Vista alum Marco Attisano for State Representative. Marco served the country for years, and he continues to serve on nonprofit boards and by providing pro bono legal services to veterans. In Manchester, New Hampshire, we endorsed Hassan Essa for City Council and Chris Potter for School Board. Hassan serves in the National Guard, and Chris was a City Year corps member and staffer in Manchester. Both have deep ties to community and we think will do great things for the city once elected. In Dutchess County, NY, we endorsed Philip Du for County Legislator. Philip served in the US Army and we know will bring servant leadership to county government.
