We endorsed former teacher, principal, and state senator Mike Johnston for U.S. Senate in Colorado

On Thursday, we endorsed our first ever U.S. Senate race when we announced our support for Mike Johnston in his campaign in Colorado. Johnston has spent his career giving back to our communities, from the classroom to the Colorado State Senate . We’ve known Mike for awhile; we were proud to support his gubernatorial run last year and have advised him as he’s built his campaign from the ground up.  Mike is the kind of leader who runs toward the toughest problems, and we know he’ll continue taking on the biggest challenges facing our country in the U.S. Senate! Learn more about him and join his team here.

We endorsed RD Huffstetler for Congress in Virginia’s 5th District

We were thrilled on Thursday to also announce our support for Roger Dean “RD” Huffstetler, a former Marine and entrepreneur who is running for Congress in Virginia’s 5th District. With the help of public schools, mentors, and scholarships, RD was the first in his family to go to college. He then went on to enlist in the Marines in 2003, and later started his own technology company. We’ve known RD for a number of years as well, and we are proud to endorse him as his campaign hits its stride. Learn more about him and join his team at rdforva.com!

Emily speaks at Service Academies Global Summit and Aspen Ideas Festival

In the past month, Emily spoke at the Service Academies Global Summit and the Aspen Ideas Festival. At the Service Academies Global Summit, she offered powerful wisdom on leadership and service, and shared why we desperately need more servant leaders in politics. In Aspen, she emphasized the importance of getting more young people involved in national service, through Serve America Together, which is an initiative led by Service Year Alliance that focuses on making national service a common expectation and opportunity for young Americans. She also touched on why it's important that young people see politics as a way to serve the country.
