Councilman André Johnson is a native of Harford County and has lived in the Edgewood area nearly his entire life. Andre has led a life dedicated to service. He completed two tours of service as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Army, including a deployment in Iraq, and later served as a Baltimore City Police Officer, receiving two life-saving awards. In 2018, Councilman Johnson won a hard-fought campaign to be elected to the Harford County Council, the first African American to be elected in his district. He is currently the only Democrat on the Council and serves on the Veterans Commission, Disabilities Commission, Harford Center Board of Directors, Youth Commission, and Personnel Committee. His passion inherently lies within Harford County where he was born, raised, and resides with his wife Shawnna, and their five children.
