Adam Hollier is a father, military man, Michigan State Senator, Black and Native-American running for Congress to represent Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. The son of a former social worker and a retired Detroit Fire Department captain, service to people and the community were ingrained in Adam from a young age.

Adam currently serves in the Michigan State Senate, representing a large swath of Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. He has passed legislation every year he has been in office, which is an accomplishment not held by many. He sits on the appropriations committee, and is Detroit’s best advocate for bringing resources back to his district.

In addition to his role as Senator, he serves as a Captain and paratrooper in the United States Army, 412th Civil Affairs Battalion. Prior to that, Adam held various impactful governmental staff roles for State Senators and Mayor Dave Bing of Detroit. During his time under Mayor Bing, Adam shepherded the creation of the Public Lighting Authority, a project that has resulted in the installation of 64,000 new lights across the City of Detroit.

Senator Hollier served as a volunteer firefighter before enlisting in the U.S. Army, and graduated with distinction from officer candidate school, where he earned the commission of 2nd Lieutenant. Senator Hollier is a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools. He earned a bachelor’s in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University where he played safety on the varsity football team and was a decathlete. He received a master’s in urban planning from the University of Michigan.

At every turn, Adam has been guided in public service by one simple truth: “we can do better.” He is running to represent the community he lives in. In his spare time, Adam enjoys playing with his kids, running, training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and woodworking. He and his family reside in Detroit’s North End neighborhood, where generations of his family have lived since the 1940s.
